I’m potentially heading off to the Goat Rocks in this lovely state. This is all dependent on whether or not this whole group activity pans out, so we’ll see.
I’m breaking a previous rule I made for myself to not spoil any section of the PCT for myself, but I can’t pass up the opportunity. It looks way too cool. The Goat Rocks reside between Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. The location itself sits atop an extinct Stratovolcano. If you’re not seeing a trend in my trips yet, refer to your friendly neighborhood geologist for more information.
No promises. I don’t know if it’s going to happen yet. If not, I can always head out to Alta Mountain for a day-hike. I mentioned in my previous “Next Weekend” post that I’ve wanted to go there. If I do that, then the following weekend I’ll probably do an overnight trip there to explore the area in more detail.
Initially I wasn’t going to do anything this weekend sans a day-hike. I haven’t done much housework recently due to my going out every weekend, I have a lot of planning to do for the PCT (I have 198 days to get it all together), and gear to sort through. But… Goat Rocks. My house can stay messy, my plans can remain as scattered papers on the desk, and my gear could use another trip – just for one more weekend. The seasons here in Washington are changing, the sun is going down earlier, and the skies are starting to turn gray. It’s turning into a ‘now or never’ scenario at this point.
If the plans change, you’ll find out by my next post!
Edit: Goat Rocks is a go! Weather permitting of course, but we’re gonna try for it.
