The beginning of the PCT is epic in the truest sense of the word, then it kinda calms down a bit when you get to Big Bear for a stretch. It’s beautiful of course through the majority of it, but there’s a stretch where there’s not really any view to sit down and admire. It’s just you and your walking and the reality of what you’ve gotten yourself into kinda sinks in. Not every day out there is going to be amazing. When there’s nothing to distract you it’s just you and your thoughts, which can kinda drive you crazy sometimes. It gets worse the further you go if that’s any reassurance. Hiking became more of a mediation to me at this point. But nothing lasts forever, you get to Deep Creek and are then spit back out into wide open spaces with amazing views.
